“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson
I love this quote. Where did you get it from? You are always good for quotes. Miss that about you. I also miss your laugh. And that you like to laugh, and drink wine with me, and talk for hours. I had a dinner party last week, you would have been so proud, seriously, probably the best dinner ever. And by the end of it we were all smoking inside and giving toast. Classic.
ReplyDeletei heard the quote while previewing a movie for my students - akeelah and the bee. but it turns out to be pretty famous - nelson mandela quoted it in his inaugural address.
ReplyDeleteand what i wouldn't give for a good dinner party with you; sounds like it was amazing, and i think i especially miss getting to prepare and cook with you and lots of laughter before the real part even begins.
Amazing how some of the most fun end up being before the party even begins! Remember our first dinner party, oh how far we have come.
